GOT LIGHTS?
The lights are up!
With
the help of the O'Bleness Foundation, Brent
Hays (Hayes Construction), Diagnostic
Hybrids, James Trout (Trout Electrical),
CDBG and AEP, and the City of Athens,
the light project for Fenway has been
completed!.
We couldn't further the
light cause without some community help.
Below, left to right, are
pictured Cindy Hayes (on behalf of Brent
Hayes), James Trout of Trout Electric and
County Commissioner Mark Sullivan who were all
instrumental in saving the lighting of
Fenway.

PARADE The parade
was a hit! Finally good weather allowed the
parade to get underway and everyone had a great
time! The Southern Ohio Copperheads even stopped
by! Below are some of players who showed
up early.

again this year! This is Susan's third year!
OPENING DAY
CEREMONIES Kyler Springer
threw the first pitch to his grandpa, Roger
Springer for the opening day
cermonies. Kyler was hit by a
pitch towards the end of the 7th grade
season which caused some concern for those
who were there. But Kyler bounced back to
finish out the season! So to celebrate his
return we asked him to throw out a
ceremonial ball which he did with
admirably!
Additionally, Athens
Sandlot Board Member George McCarthy threw a
ceremonial baseball to Kris Kostival. George is
one of the original board members and Kris is one
of the newer board members. George's youngest
son Ryan was injured earlier in the year and was
not present. This was Ryan's last year in
Sandlot but he had a knee injury during one of the
early practices.
George's older boy
Kyle was on the first Athens Sandlot team back in
2003. Kyle was playing in a JV
game so Kris filled in to catch the pitch which
was clocked somewhere around 40-100 mph (closer to
100 though I'm pretty sure).

the ball fields' concession stand or at the rear
shelter house .
